CrazyTalk7_PRO App Reviews

Sometimes, making a good app is like a recipe, and this one adds so many of the right ingredients. Using it is pure fun, thanks to animation skill levels that allow you to select between simple and complex for good animation detail, various ways to input sound including Text-To-Speech, and even very realistic teeth models that can be adjusted any number of ways to fit characters, so it doesnt look odd when theyre talking. This app doesnt pretend to be more than cute, but I do believe that properly adjusted animations can yield results that are very close to realistic. Ive given this app five stars, because its so cool to use, but I do have a wish list, and there are some features that could still use a little fine tuning. Not every image works well with animation. Characters looking directly into the camera work best. If a head is at an angle, or looking up into the camera, the results can be more mutant than lifelike. But with the right characters, the results are strikingly good. I also really like the included Text-To-Speech engine, but the included United States voices do need work. Even with careful text entry, the characters sound like theyre speaking with an accent, that sounds sort of like a cross between French and Czechoslovakian. Additional voice packs are available for Windows users, but sadly none for the Mac. That needs to be fixed. Yes there is room for improvement, but its a brand new app with really cool potential, and its already a blast to use as it is, so five stars.

It turns out that the current version from the CrazyTalk web site is 8 - so I bought this version 7 from the Apple App Store, and it’s not even the current version. Supposedly there is some bonus content that you get for registering the product. But if you buy from the Apple App Store, you are not issued a serial number, so you can’t register the product, so you can’t get the bonus content. I contected their support people, and was sent some instructions about how to log onto their web site for users. But I ran into the same problem - I don’t have a registered product, so the link I was told to click on to get the bonus content isn’t shown, and so I still don’t have the bonus content. The sofware itself seems to work just fine and for the most part is pretty intuitive. However, if you do click on the help link, it sends you to the version 8 help page. You can search the CrazyTalk web site for version 7 help, and download the pdf with version 7 help… but I wish I had version 8 software instead!
